Developing household dynamics and gender relations in cooking

The study involves an exploration of household dynamics and beliefs in relation to gender, especially in the use of fuel wood, black and green charcoal for cooking. Factors such as power relations, gender roles, and access to resources and children’s roles in relation to green charcoal acceptance are being investigated.

 

Outcome of WP2:

  • The household dynamics and gender relations impact on cooking scientifically validated and understood by stakeholders.

  • Recommendations to improve the diffusion of cleaner energy sources generated.

  • Policy formulations are presented at district and city level as well as SDG 5 on Gender Equality

Outputs:

  • Research reports (baseline) on insights into the different cooking conditions;
  • Scientific papers on change lab experiments and interventions with households on developing new practices published.
  • Research seminars reports with stakeholders
  • Policy brief, inputs to SDG 5.
